The association was created to favor knowledge exchange between nations. No knowledge is absolute but through its worth and accuracy, great things can  be accomplished for Humanity. A knowledge is even more interesting when it is confronted to other view points, to different critical thinking. It allows knowledge enrichment, completion, rectification, or even its cancellation. Knowledge must always be used against a moral and ethical judgment.

The encounter between two nations can be catastrophic. In that sense, it is evident concerning colonialism, slavery, exploitation, acculturation, submission, massacres ... This is a dark portrait, yes ...

But exchanges can be extremely rewarding. Some examples are exchange of goods, exchange in culture and technologies ... If one can outgrow the natural tendency to ethnocentrism (seeing another Society as a inferior to one's own) then numerous doors to fruitful exchange will open widely.
